MICHAEL O'CONNELL - BIOGRAPHY
Michael O’Connell is a producer, director and editor with an extensive background in producing documentary series and specials for PBS, TBS, The Discovery Channel and British Channel Four on subjects ranging from science and technology to medicine, music and history. His credits include: “The Heart of Healing”, a series for TBS exploring the connection between mind and body in health and healing; “The Promise of Play”, a PBS series on the role of play in learning, creativity and development; “The Final Hours: Amelia Earhart’s Last Flight”, a PBS special recreating Amelia Earhart’s ill-fated 1937 world flight; “HAL’s Legacy”, a PBS special examining the latest advances in artificial intelligence research; and “ReCreating America”, a PBS series on creativity currently in production.
Michael has a B.A. in English from the University of Illinois. He began his television career in Los Angeles at KABC and has worked with InCA Productions in San Francisco as a producer, director and editor on numerous documentary productions. He is married and lives in New York.
